Partner: PayCaptain

In today’s workplace, financial stress is one of the most common challenges employees face. PayCaptain, a leader in innovative payroll solutions and certified B Corp, recognises how payroll is a function uniquely placed to support employees' financial wellbeing, by providing direct access to wages, integrating financial tools, and offering structured support to help employees manage their money more effectively.

We spoke to Anna Buckle, Director of Operations & Impact at PayCaptain, about her decision to partner with Money First Aid and offer the training to their own team and customers.

What attracted you to the Money First Aider® training?

“I truly believe that knowledge on supporting colleague’s financial challenges responsibly and confidently is an essential part of the modern workplace. To do this, people need to feel confident that the information and signposting they will be sharing in these types of conversations is appropriate and helpful.

The Money First Aider® course nails this.

It also perfectly complements the financial wellbeing features in PayCaptain, so I have been really happy to finally be able to offer PayCaptain customers the opportunity to become Money First Aiders, helping them to engage and support their colleagues to become more financially resilient in the most responsible way possible.”

Can you share one way in which the Money First Aider® training benefits PayCaptain and your customers?

“Recognising the crucial role financial wellbeing plays in employee welfare, Money First Aid developed a bespoke version of their training course to incorporate PayCaptain’s financial wellbeing benefits. This includes features like PayCaptain’s Emergency Cash facility, our interest-bearing savings accounts, and our Plain Numbers certified payslip. This helps to raise awareness of and engagement in these features, all designed to support employees in managing their finances more effectively.”

How has the partnership progressed so far?

So far, PayCaptain has trained nine members of our own team and extended the initiative to three of our customer organisations: Roadchef, Dishoom and Ever So Sensible.

By integrating Money First Aider® training with our payroll services, PayCaptain is ensuring that employees have access to both financial tools and the human support they need to navigate financial difficulties.

We look forward to introducing more organisations to the training soon.

“It is vital in the world of work for an employer to recognise all aspects of employee welfare. Money anxiety is one of the most common problems people have, and to give them support and show them where to find help is an invaluable skill.
I have been in their situation and wish I could have had access to someone impartial to listen and send me in the right direction to find help.”
